The home owner had installed a projection screen for a home entertainment system. All the furniture had to be moved out of the way from the wall to make room for the screen which took up almost the whole wall when lowered. This created a design dilemma – a big empty space on a feature wall when the screen wasn’t in use. The solution was to fill the space with art but nothing that projected out because the screen was literally right up against the wall.
The illusion of space – this mural features a long hallway with a repetition of assorted arabesque arches as seen through a window with a cut stone sill. The frontal facing wall of the first arch has an ornate stylized floral pattern inspired by Persian architectural details. Down the hallway is a female figure with traditional Indian dress. The warm colour pallet was drawn from colour scheme of a painting that also hangs in the living room.
