This mural was inspired by a wrought iron sculpture secured to the side of a building that the home owners had spotted while on vacation. It was the perfect answer for the large bare wall that dominated the entrance to the home. The tree is ornate without being too busy. The design is both naturalistic and… art deco? Classic? It’s just cool looking.
With 14′ ceilings, this decorative tree is probably 12′ tall from top to bottom and 10′ in width. Painted just beyond the front entrance, this mural is on the most prominent wall, opposite the dining room table.
The trunk of this stylized tree has only one coat of paint and emphasizes the depth of contrasting brush strokes. The roots and limbs of the tree have 2 coats of paint so they become flat graphic shapes.
